Information is expanding across the enterprise. Businesses are creating and filling corporate digital landfills, clogging operational processes without knowing their complete content holdings or the value contained within.
“In 2014, the collective growth of human knowledge was doubling every 13 months. At its current trajectory IBM estimates that by 2020, human knowledge will be doubling every 12 hours.”
“According to IDC, by 2020 the digital universe – the data we create and copy annually – will reach 44 zettabytes, or 44 trillion gigabytes. That’s about 5,000 gigs per person.”
But there is hope!
Imagine a world where you assemble a document rather than write it out word for word each time. Imagine that content relevant to what you are creating has already been created and is now made available for you to reuse. It is possible.
Your greatest advancements in information management still to be achieved may not lie in the technology you use to manage content but in the content itself.
